Historians disagree about the exact date of the arrival of the Utub or Bani-Utbah in Kuwait. The Utub, who
are a clan of the Anaza tribe to which Al-Sabah belong, migrated from Al-Aflag in Najd and eventually settled
in Kuwait after a long migration. There was a consensus among the inhabitants of Kuwait to choose Sabah
bin Jaber (1753) to administer justice and the affairs of the town, and settle the disputes of its inhabitants.

There have since been 13 rulers of Kuwait form the Al-Sabah family according to the following chronological
