This free-blown glass vase with applied handles represents a rare type of enamelled and gilded Mamluk vessel. The trailed handles were attached after the piece was blown and its lip and foot were turned under. The surface is divided into horizontal panels filled with Arabic inscriptions, floral scrolls, and birds. the widest panel on the body contains an inscription placed against spiralling scrolls bearing buds and leaves. The inscriptions read: "Glory to our lord, the sultan, the learned king." The narrow panel on the neck is occupied by a phoenix, an auspicious creature of central and east Asian origin. Interrupting the floral scroll on the upper neck are ovals bearing three-petalled blossoms, a characteristic motif of the period.
